In this illuminating journey, students will engage with Horton (Native American-influenced) techniques to embrace the earthly and ethereal energies that shape our connection with nature. With Hula Kahiko (Ancient Hawaiian) and Hula Auana (Modern Hawaiian), participants will travel through time, exploring the intricate blends of dance, spirituality, and storytelling that define these captivating styles. By engaging with West African traditions, we invite you to delve into the transcendent capacity of movement to heal and unify communities. Furthermore, with an emphasis on Afro-Caribbean traditions, you will explore movement as a means of liberation and a celebration of culture. Finally, you will engage with the Cunningham (Organic Discovery) approach to movement, which embraces intuition and body wisdom.
